The giraffe house is a project done during my semester with Miroslav Sik. The aim was to design a building for giraffes and rhinoceros at the Zürich zoo. The shape follows the existing topography. The three volumes open towards the sky contain the rooms for the animals. These spaces are generously lit by diffuse natural light. Visitors get through the building between giraffes and rhinos. The construction is built with wood, from the structure to the envelope. The organic wooden structure on piles emerges from the mineral ground.
